From Buckeyes to Bengals: Carlos Hyde Would Be Great Fit in Cincinnati

I would say that it is pretty safe to assume that Bengal fans are pretty disappointed with the amount of production that BenJarvus Green-Ellis has provided over the past couple of seasons.

Over the past two seasons, the “Law Firm” has averaged 3.9 and 3.4 yards per carry respectively. Would anybody welcome in a new running back that just averaged 7.3 yards per carry this past year, adding up to 1521 yards?

How about 15 rushing touchdowns and another three touchdown receptions?

Those numbers were produced by Carlos Hyde, the running back from The Ohio State University. I’m not saying that Hyde will come in and match the numbers he put up this past year at Ohio State, but I believe he could be an instant upgrade to BJGE.

The Bengals are going to need a complimentary running back to Giovani Bernard going forward. Bernard just isn’t built to carry the ball 25-30 times a game over the course of an entire season. Hyde has the perfect skill set to be that complimentary back.

It’s obvious that there is no way the Bengals are going to select a running back in the first round of the draft this year. It’s also not likely that they would even select one in the second round.

But, the second round is exactly where Carlos Hyde could be when their pick rolls around. Sitting and waiting to be yet another weapon added to the already explosive Bengal offense.

Apparently my first comment didn’t post. Alex, great article. I agree that the Bengals backfield could use a back like Carlos Hyde. Like you I don’t believe they will take him in the 1st round. I think the Browns may try to grab a top OSU back like Hyde with their second pick of the first round before the Bengals get a chance to snag him. Like Cincy, they need some serious help in the backfield. Carlos would be a great PR move for the Browns. It would help them sell tickets and help calm the fan uproar over the mismanagement of previous moves. If the Browns skip on Hyde, then I hope the Bengals grab him. Good back for sure. Great article. Keep up the good work.

As a Browns and OSU fan, I would hate this! I’d hate to see Hyde run over my Browns twice a year. He’s going to be a good NFL RB.

I’d like the Browns to draft him, but only in the 2nd round at the earliest. No RB is worth a 1st round pick anymore in today’s NFL (especially after getting burned by TRich).
