Cincinnati Bengals: First-Round NFL Draft Prospects

The Cincinnati Bengals have a late round pick in the first round, and mock drafts are flying everywhere from left to right. The Bengals have one of the deepest rosters in the NFL, but there’s always room for improvement.

There are quite a few players that the Bengals could take that can help them get over the playoff hump. The Bengals have had some very good drafts lately, filling in needs with talented prospects and even taking chances on quite a few contributors.

So here’s a look at a few prospects the Bengals could look at in the first round:

Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

Verrett was actually the guy I mocked to the Bengals in the 1st round in my 7 round mock draft: (insert article here). He is NFL ready and the only true knock on him is his size.

Displaying real athleticism and the ability to play both zone and man extremely well, Verrett would fit the Bengals very well. There are numerous question marks about the Bengals cornerback secondary.

With players getting older, injury history, and depth concerns, Verrett would add a great deal of talent and depth to the Bengals. Verrett is a shut down corner and adds another dimension to the Bengals defense.

Fundamentally sound and great vision on where the ball is going, Verrett would be a great asset wherever he went. Also, if it helps ease your mind about Verrett’s size, he’s only 1 inch shorter than Darelle Revis.
