NFL News: Early Free Agency Chatter; Latest in Richie Incognito Scandal

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson is owed a $1.75 million roster bonus in March, and he could eventually be a cap casualty. ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak is the latest to suggest the team may cut ties with Johnson.

The National Football Post’s Len Pasquarelli reports that the Oakland Raiders may pursue Matt Schaub once the Texans release him. Schaub’s release is a mere formality, as he’s owed $11 million in 2014 salary.

He’ll be given the opportunity to compete for a starting job if he pursues it.

Chicago Bears free agent cornerback Charles Tillman has expressed interest in signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his former head coach, Buccaneers, Lovie Smith.

Pairing Tillman with the All-Pro Darrelle Revis would upgrade Tampa Bay’s secondary and would be a formidable duo to go against pass-happy offenses in the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta falcons in the NFC South.

The Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin bullying scandal investigation is going to conclude this week. Investigator Ted Wells will release his findings later in the week.

The Big Lead was able to get a transcript of some text messages between the two of them between October 2012 and November 2013. There is a lot of talk about partying, drinking and threatening each other’s lives in a joking manner….we hope.

ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett believes there’s a “strong chance” that starting center Brian De La Puente will walk in free agency. De La Puente could be replaced in-house by undrafted free agent guard Tom Lelito.
