Round three, the last round I will do for our Stripe Hype post Super Bowl NFL Mock Draft. After the third round the pickings get slim with players the average fan has heard of. Although the later rounds or day two of the draft is where the glue that holds an elite team together aspires from.
As the first three rounds of my mock draft are compete n apparent trend has formed. We always new the draft was deep with corners and wide receivers, but the running backs and outside linebackers came off the board in packs during my third round round.
Here we go!
1/65 Houston: Billy Turner OT, North Dakota State
Spending the first round pick on Johnny Manziel and expecting him to become your franchise quarterback means protection from the o-line is a must from game one. Turner should be able to handle that task.
2/66 Washington: Cyril Richardson OG, Baylor
Cyril has been projected as a late first to early second rounder until his performance at the Senior Bowl significantly hurt his draft stock. He had problems with the elite pass rushers and most NFL pass rushers are elite. That being said RGIII should like this pick, Cyril being from Baylor as was RGIII.
3/67 Oakland: Joel Bitonio OT, Nevada
The Raiders have went QB, then WR and now the tackle to hold it all together they hope. Bitonio is a lot higher on some boards, but also a lot lower on some other boards so his ability is somewhat up in the air. A good combine showing is a must for Bitonio to get picked in the third.
4/68 Atlanta: Troy Niklas TE, Notre Dame
As the possibility of Tony Gonzalez retiring becomes closer to reality. A new playmaking tight end has to be on Atlanta’s radar, and Niklas is the best rated TE left the Falcons get good value with Niklas here.
5/69 Tampa Bay: Jackson Jeffcoat DE, Texas
Jeffcoat is a little bit higher projected than sixty-nine so like Atlanta before them Tampa gets a need with value in this pick. Jeffcoat is also another player that needs a good combine showing to not drop out of the first day.
