We are getting closer to the free agent markets opening on March 11th. The Bengals are not known for going out and making fireworks in free agency, but could easily build around a solid free agent signing. Defensive end is a key need heading into the off-season, with Michael Johnson’s expected departure.

The Bengals will have more cap space as the amount has exceeded expectation jumping to $133 million. That is a 9% jump from last year’s $123 million cap and about $7 million over the original projection of $126 million for the NFL.

There are always options between drafting someone in the 1st or 2nd round with the intention to start immediately, and signing a free agent to develop a later round draft pick.  There are many free agents that are viable options at the right price. Here are a few that could be a good fit in stripes come 2014-15 season.
