Coley Harvey of ESPN.com, has reported that Darqueze Dennard will be making in the neighborhood of $7.98 million over 4 years. The guaranteed amount of $6.5 million and a $4.1 million signing bonus.
This is what we more or less expected since the signing of Jason Verrett a few weeks ago by the San Diego Chargers. We knew it would be more but not much more, since Dennard was only a pick higher, but what also makes this contract nice for him is over 80% of his contract is guaranteed over the 4 years.
According to that same ESPN report, Dennard will make the most guaranteed in his 3rd year during the 2016 year. This luckily means he will have time to grow and any production in year 1 and 2 will be a huge bonus.
Although everything we have heard from Dennard has been his focus on football, you can’t help but think this is a load off of his mind and the Cincinnati Bengals to finish up this deal. This means that every draft pick is now sign by the Bengals organization.
The final round of OTA’s started today and last through Wednesday with Training camp due to start end of July. Look for the Bengals and their newest signed rookie to turn their focus to the upcoming season.
