The Cincinnati Bengals will play their first nationally televised game on Sunday night when they meet the New England Patriots in Foxborough.  Hopefully, the Bengals will be closer to full-strength than they have been recently for this marquee matchup.  Here’s the Bengals Injury Report for Week Five.

Having Vontaze Burfict would be vital in a game where the Bengals look to establish themselves amongst the AFC’s powers.  His outlook is still unclear though as he remains on the concussion protocol after sustaining two concussions in two weeks to start the year.

But he isn’t the only player that could make a huge impact on the game.  Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones returned to practice this week, but missed today after tweaking his ankle.  His return would help the Bengals improve their redzone offense, which has been lacking thus far.  He would also give Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson an extra weapon in the receiving game while trying to devise a game plan to counter the Patriots’ strong secondary.

Kevin Zeitler’s presence would be a welcomed site, but the Bengals dealt well with Jurrell Casey in Zeitler’s absence in Week Three.  After sustaining a harsh calf injury, the Bengals have to be planning for his absence this week also.

On the other side of the ball, Brandon Thompson appeared to injure his knee pretty badly in the game against the Falcons.

There hasn’t been any official word yet and I don’t expect any if the Bengals haven’t elaborated by now.  Hopefully, Thompson is on his way to a return soon, but counting on him this week seems like a stretch.  His presence would be missed while the Bengals try to limit the Patriots on the ground.
