According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the San Diego Chargers have made an offer to Baltimore Ravens free agent tackle Bryant McKinnie, and negotiations on a contract are currently ongoing. The Miami Dolphins also hosted McKinnie this week, but they seem to be looking at every free agent tackle, and for now, the Chargers are in the driver’s seat to land McKinnie’s services.

McKinnie was the seventh-overall pick in the 2002 draft by the Minnesota Vikings, where he started at left tackle for nine seasons before spending the last two with the Ravens, mostly as a backup. He started every playoff game during the Ravens’ magical super Bowl-run after being replaced at left tackle during the regular season by Michael Oher.

Quarterback Philip Rivers was sacked 49 times in 2012, the second-most in the NFL, so they’ll settle on anything right about now.

The Ravens appear committed to moving on with someone else, and it will likely be Kelechi Osemele.

After enduring 6 long years of Norv Turner as their head coach, the San Diego Chargers will be getting a breath of fresh air with the hiring of Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as their next head coach. The first area he’ll likely look to upgrade will be in the trenches. The offensive line was among the league’s worst last year. The linebacking corp is also in need of an upgrade, and both of those areas will be fixable with the #11 pick. This could also be where the first safety of the draft goes as Kenny Vaccaro is still sitting on the board. As our mock draft stands now, LSU’s Barkevious Mingo would be the favorite to be drafted here.

Next Up: Miami Dolphins

16

After another 4-sack performance against the Chargers, Cincinnati’s defense has registered 16 sacks in the last four games after being blanked by the Denver Broncos in Week 9.

46

The Chargers haven’t had a 100-yard rusher this season, and they entered Week 13 ranking 25th in rushing offense. That didn’t change Sunday, as the Bengals held them to 46 yards rushing and allowed their offense to possess he ball nearly seven minutes longer than the Chargers.

118

The Bengals were coming off back-to-back 100 yard rushing performances for the first time this season, but they went against a Chargers defense that ranked 5th in the NFL and had allowed just one 100-yard rusher this year. BenJarvus Green-Ellis gashed San Diego for 118 yards on Sunday, including a 41-yarder, one of the longest runs allowed by the Chargers all season.

Dec 2, 2012; San Diego, CA, USA; Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap (96) recovers a fumble by San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers (not pictured) during the third quarter at Qualcomm Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

2

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap registered two sacks on Sunday, including a crucial strip-sack in the 4th-quarter that helped the Bengals run time off the clock and take a 20-13 lead.

6

The Bengals defense has allowed just tow offensive touchdowns in the last four games after they kept San Diego’s offense out of the end zone despite having two red zone opportunities. Not counting Dalton’s pick-six, the defense held the Chargers to just six points on offense.
