Since Josh Cribbs was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2005, the former Golden flasher has “flashed” his magnificent return skills on his way to three Pro Bowl berths and two All-Pro selections as a return man.

During his time with the Cleveland Browns, Cribbs returned eight kickoffs for touchdowns, which is tied for first in NFL history with Leon Washington. He also amassed 12,169 combined kickoff and punt return yards, becoming just the sixth player in NFL history to reach the 12,000-yard plateau. In the season finale against Pittburgh, he surpassed Dennis Northcutt to become the Browns’ all-time leader in punt return yardage with 2,154 yards.

He was named Cleveland’s Pro Athlete of the Year 2010(when LeBron James was still there), and entering this offseason, most believed Cribbs wouldn’t have any trouble finding a team to take his talents to.

It appeared for awhile that the Arizona Cardinals would be that team, but word came out today that he failed his physical with the team. He will be 30 in June of this year, and it appears as though there may be too much wear and tear on him after being pounded repeatedly by defenses both on offense and special teams.

If this is the end of Cribbs’ career, it was certainly a memorable one. Hopefully, he’s able to get healthy and continue his NFL career.

Joe Flacco has played like an elite quarterback during the 2012 postseason, but he intends to target more money than Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning in contract talks with the Ravens. Flacco and the Ravens will resume negotiations immediately after the Super Bowl. Peyton currently makes $19.2 million a year, meaning Flacco will be targeting around $20 million per year with the Ravens, but they may just franchise him and pay him $14 million for the 2013 season, and make him prove he can maintain his new-found ”elite” level of play.

Sunday night’s Pro Bowl may have been free agent receiver Josh Cribbs’ last game as a Cleveland Brown. He hasn’t heard from the Browns about a new contract, and new owner Jimmy Haslam has said a decision on Cribbs will be made over the next few weeks.

Cribbs is nothing more than a serviceable #4 receiver, but his abilities as a return man will make him a quality free agent for whoever decides to sign him.

After being one of the least productive pass-rushing 3-4 ends in football since being a first-round pick in 2009, the Pittsburgh Steelers could consider moving Ziggy Hood to defensive tackle in 2013.
