While NFL free agency doesn’t officially start until March, the waiver wire is a year-long process to keep track of. As of now, any player who isn’t signed to a contract, or has his contract terminated by his team, is able to be claimed on waivers, or later sign with any club.

The New York Giants have made several moves already, releasing starting linebacker Michael Boley, starting runningback Ahmad Bradshaw, starting defensive tackle Chris Canty. The Giants were projected to be $4.7 million over the salary cap for 2013.

Bradshaw will be the most likely to sign a free agent deal, as he is just 26 years old and rushed for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns as the team’s primary RB in 2012, despite missing time with a foot injury. Bradshaw says he’s confident his foot injury isn’t career ending, and that the Giants left open the possibility of re-signing him once he’s healthy.

The cuts will save the Giants close to $14 million on the salary cap for the 2013 season.

The Denver Post speculates the Broncos may release linebacker D.J. Williams, who was suspended for nine games in 2012, and made just one start in seven games.

The Tennessee Titans fully intend to keep runningback Chris Johnson for 2013, and haven’t even approached him about taking a pay-cut.

The Philadelphia Eagles released offensive tackle Demetress Bell.
