The Oakland Raiders acquired QB Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for two undisclosed draft picks, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer.

He’s also reporting it appears now that a trade between the Raiders and Arizona Cardinals for QB Carson Palmer will happen.

Flynn is now expected to be the Raiders’ new starting QB, and the Cards will likely have Palmer starting for them.

Palmer recently turned down a $3 million pay cut from his $13 million base salary, a clear indication has no desire to return to Oakland, where he’s gone 8-16 as a starter, and is now being replaced in favor of Flynn. The Seahawks originally signed Flynn to a three-year, $19.5 million contract on March 21, 2012. That deal included $10 million in guaranteed money, including $2 million of Flynn’s $5.25 million base salary for the 2013 season, but he ultimately was  beat-out for the starting gig by Russell Wilson.

By trading Flynn, the Seahawks will save $5.25 million in cash and $3.25 million in salary cap space for 2013.

The Oakland Raiders are up next in our Reader’s Mock Draft after finishing 4-12 last season, and are facing a complete roster overhaul after many of their best free agents departed, and they’re on the verge of sending Carson Palmer out of town.

It doesn’t appear as though DL Richard Seymour will be back next year, and DL Desmond Bryant signed with the Cleveland Browns, leaving a void as big as the black hole in the interior of the Raiders’ defense. The draft’s 2-best DT prospects will likely be on the board here, as well as the top-2 DE prospects, so they could go with a variety of players in order to address the defensive line.

After the Jacksonville Jaguars took Geno Smith at #2, it’s unlikely they’ll draft the next-best QB in Matt Barkley here, but the Raiders are notorious in reaching for players, so it wouldn’t come as a complete shock.
