The Cleveland Browns have completed their 2013 coaching staff after announcing today they’ve officially hired former Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Ray Horton as their DC. Horton is highly-regarded in NFL circles, and was very close to earning a head-coaching gig this offseason. He spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, who ranked second in the NFL in interceptions and third-down efficiency. Despite Arizona winning just four games this year, his defense was still ranked 12th in the NFL.

Before coming to Arizona, Horton spent seven seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers as their secondary coach, and strong secondary play has been his calling card as an NFL coach. His playing career lasted 10 years as a defensive back having last played in 1992 for the Dallas Cowboys.Overall, Horton has 19 years of experience as an NFL assistant, and will have a talented defensive backfield to work with in Cleveland, including All-Pro cornerback Joe Haden.

This comes after adding former Chargers Head Coach Norv Turner as their new offensive coordinator. All of this clearly shows the Browns’ new-founded dedication to winning, and not being the bottom-feeder of the AFC North.
