This year’s NFL Playoffs won’t be without excitement and hype. It won’t be without some serious deja vu, either. Andy Dalton and his Cincinnati Bengals earned a second straight trip to post-season play this year, only to see the Houston Texans in the first round of the playoffs once again. After Houston handled Cincinnati easily in a 31-10 win last year, the Bengals arguably could have their work cut out for them to make this one close.

That’d be the logic if these were the same two teams facing off again, at least. In reality, Matt Schaub is healthy this time around, and is actually making his first career playoff start against the Bengals. Houston’s once vaunted defense has turned to Swiss cheese in the secondary, and Cincy’s defense has been borderline elite in the second half of the season.

With this game slated to be much more competitive than last year’s meeting, it’s kind of surprising that Bengals @ Texans tickets come in averaging just $299/seat, with a get-in price of $110. That’s actually 5% cheaper than the average price for Houston Texans tickets this season. Currently, this matchup comes in as the second most expensive wild card game of the opening playoff weekend (second only behind the Washington/Seattle game). And as expected, due to both teams improving on what they were last year, this game’s ticket price is jumped up 20.03% from last year’s wild card duel. However, with prices falling 50% in the last week so it seems that Texans fans aren’t that excited with the matchup.

On paper, the Texans should be poised for another rout. Andy Dalton doesn’t handle top defenses very well, and Arian Foster and Andre Johnson out-rank A.J. Green and BenJarvus Green-Ellis as a unit. But this game isn’t really about matchups. It’s about whether or not Matt Schaub has the goods to get it done in his first playoff game, combined with whether or not Andy Dalton can avoid the same mistakes that crushed the Bengals the last time these two teams met. It should be an evenly matched game for the most part, and could ultimately come down to who makes one less mistake.

And remember, for all NFL playoffs tickets check out Ticketmaster, the official exchange for the NFL tickets.

The Cincinnati Bengals march into a crucial week 14 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys riding a four-game winning streak and the AFC North still in play. While the Cowboys are an inconsistent bunch at 6-6, their talent still poses a massive threat at home. However, if Andy Dalton and co. can keep building on their momentum, they could easily be sitting at 8-5 at the end of the week. And if all goes well and Baltimore falls to the Redskins, they could be a mere game behind the Ravens, with a week 17 date with Baltimore looming.

Clearly this one comes with a lot of baggage and hype on both sides, so it’s no surprise that it’s Cincy’s most expensive home game. Oddly enough, despite the severity of this game, this is actually the Cowboys’ cheapest game of 2012. After dropping 9% this week, the average price for Bengals vs Cowboys tickets is down to $149/seat, 42% above the average price of Cincinnati Bengals tickets this season. On the low end, fans that want to be there in person on Sunday can get in to Paul Brown Stadium for as low as of $52.

In a season of streaks that saw the Bengals win three, drop four, and win the past four, week 14 will play a critical role in deciding exactly what kind of team this year’s version of the Bengals truly is. The fact that it comes against a desperate Dallas team with their season hanging in the balance only adds to the build up. Tony Romo and the Cowboys are a legitimate threat to Cincy’s playoff chances, but will be another solid piece to their 2012 resume if they can take care of business as they’ve done the past several weeks.

There are a lot of storylines in the NFL worth hyping up this week, but few will rival Carson Palmer returning to Cincinnati for Bengals fans. Palmer marches his 3-7 high-flying Raiders into town against his former team, who sit at 5-5 after winning two straight.

While Palmer vs. the Bengals is a cool story, Cincinnati should have the Raiders looking over-matched. Due to there being little other than the Palmer storyline to hype this one up, it’s no shock that tickets are going at $108 on average, just 2% above the average price for Bengals tickets this year. In fact, this comes in as Cincy’s fourth cheapest home game of the year, as well as the fourth cheapest overall NFL contest of week 12. It also happens to be Oakland’s second cheapest road contest, behind only a September matchup with the Dolphins. If you’re looking for a bargain, tickets can still be had for as low as $42, with many available for $50 or less.

The ticket prices this week don’t show it this week, but this is going to be a shootout backed by pure emotion. Palmer was traded away from the Bengals last year and will face off against Cincy’s new franchise passer, Andy Dalton. The Bengals and Raiders both lean on their quarterbacks for offensive production, and that should be the case even more so for the Raiders with running back Darren McFadden still out (ankle).

The Bengals arguably hold the edge in every facet of the game against Oakland, and will attempt to make Palmer’s homecoming one he’d rather forget.
