Once upon a time, running back Spencer Ware was a highly-touted recruit coming out of Cincinnati’s Princeton High School, and he opted to play for national-powerhouse LSU. As a Tiger, Ware ran for 1249 yards on 295 attempts (4.2 ypc) and added 404 yards on 39 receptions (10.4) in his 3-year career. LSU likes to rotate backs in and out, often giving 3 backs significant carries in each game, so for Ware to put up those kind of numbers in the SEC is pretty impressive. Nevertheless, his inability to stand out as a feature-back will cause him to be drafted no higher than the 4th-round, but could be a steal for whoever gets him. Out of all the backs in the draft, he has as much expeirince going against NFL-caliber players as anyone, while also having the lease amount of tread on his tires, and could have a long NFL career as a backup.

Cincinnati Bearcats tight end Travis Kelce has been one of the lesser-discussed TE prospects of this draft class. He’s been labeled as the 5th or 6th-best prospect in this year’s class by most services, even though the senior caught 45 passes for 722 yards with eight touchdowns in 2012.

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock thinks he can be one of the draft’s top rising prospects, and he expects Kelce to be a second-round pick:

He’s going to end up going in the second round. There were some questions about him off the field and some durability issues. But I think he’s addressed a lot of that. Most people have bought into him. The tape is pretty darn good. This kid can go deep. He catches the football. He’s really athletic. And he’ll also compete in the blocking. He helped himself this year as much as any prospect in the country as far as coming from off the radar to become a top 75 pick.

Mayock also calls Tennessee receiver Zach Rogers the top sleeper at his position, while going on to project him as a fourth- or fifth-round prospect. rogers was overshadowed last year by Cordarrel Patterson and Justin Hunter, both of whom could be drafted in the first-round. Still, the 6’0″ 179 lb slot receiver caught 32 balls for 492 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Bengals will certainly be looking to add a runningback in the upcoming draft, and with the enigmatic play of tight end Jermaine Gresham, it wouldn’t be shock to see them draft another TE in the later rounds. As it turns out, they wouldn’t have to look far to find two draftable players at those positions in their own city, as the UC Bearcats will feature several NFL Draft prospects this year, the most noteworthy of which being TE Travis Kelce and RB George Winn, and ESPN Draft Analyst Mel Kiper Jr. believes both will be solid players at the NFL level.

Kelce led the Bearcats in both receiving yards (772) and touchdowns (8) this season:

Right now I’m projecting him [Travis Kelce] as a third [round pick], but with the chance maybe to be a two.

Kelce is a guy — obviously you look at the bloodlines there [Travis’ older brother Jason is the staring center for the Philadelphia Eagles] — where you think about the size that he brings to the table at 6 foot 5 — a big kid that can run. He made some really good catches down the field [where] I thought he adjusted to some poorly thrown balls
