Bengals Camp Set Except for First-Round Pick

Everyone but first-round pick Keith Rivers checked in today at the Bengals’ Georgetown, KY, camp. Spirits appear high, with Carson Palmer continuing to banter with tOSU Buckeye fans and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh cracking wise about his impoverished status. Head coach Marvin Lewis gave a brief and somewhat incoherent interview to’s Geoff Hobson. What he meant by the defense not being broke last year is beyond me, but maybe something got garbled in transmission. Finally, we have our first nominee of the year for the Bengals’ Too Much Information Award.

Muckraker Mike says that Ocho Cinco is in line for more money if he behaves. Mike Wilkening at Pro Football Weekly hears the same thing.

Former Bengals WR Jason Tucker is resting comfortably following neck surgery Saturday. He’s out for the rest of Edmonton Eskimos’ year.

AFC North Watch; Injuries are hitting early and often. In Baltimore, both LT Jared Gaither and DT Haloti Ngata have gone down. Up north, Bengal-killer TE Steve Heiden hurt his knee, while G Seth McKinney sprained an ankle. In Pittsburgh, Pro Bowl NT Casey Hampton was PUP’d after showing up fat and out of shape.
