Our weekly look at how notable Bengals free agent losses and cuts are faring.

During free agency ’08, the Bengals lost three players — Landon Johnson, Madieu Williams and Justin Smith — and in their final cuts released fan favorites Rudi Johnson and Willie Anderson, as well as Deltha O’Neal and Ahmad Brooks. So, how did this years’ crop of ex-Bengals fare in week 7?

  • Madieu is still out in Minnesota. Total games played this season: 0.
  • Anderson now has two starts as a Raven. Overall, he has appeared in 5 of Baltimore’s 6 games.
  • Landon recorded 2 tackles in Carolina’s 30-7 drubbing of the Saints. He now has 9 tackles for the year. According to reports last March, Johnson chose Carolina over Cincinnati, which had matched the Panthers’ offer, because Carolina promised him a starting spot. Obviously, he did not get it. However, had he stayed in Cincinnati, Landon would likely be starting the rest of the way at WILL due to the season-ending injury to Keith Rivers.
  • Rudi Johnson had 6 carries for 8 yards in the Lions’ loss to the Texans. On the year, that gives him 46/170 on the ground and 7/61 through the air, with 1 (receiving) TD and 1 fumble.
  • Deltha O’Neal chalked up 2 tackles in New England’s romp over Denver last night, bringing his season totals to 17 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 INT.
  • Justin Smith had 5 tackles in the 49ers’ loss to the New York Giants. For the year he has 37 tackles, 3 sacks, a FF and an INT.
  • Ahmad, also now in San Francisco, has been inactive all year.
