Here are four things to know heading into Sunday’s game at Carolina.
1. Otah is O-U-T: ProFootballTalk passes along a report from the Rock Hill Herald that Panthers tackle Jeff Otah is out for Sunday’s game. That’s good news for a Bengals defensive front that is a bit banged up (Frostee Rucker and Antwan Odom missed some practice time this week) and a pass rush that was a no-show in the first road game.
2. Santa Claus-en?: The Bengals have gotten a bit of a gift considering that Sunday will be rookie Jimmy Clausen’s first start. The Bengals need to take advantage of his inexperience, something they didn’t do when they faced the Ravens Joe Flacco for the first time.
3. Ced Too Much: Cedric Benson’s mini media-tour complaining about the running game ticked me off. But Benson believes the running game will get back on track this week. Let’s hope it does and let’s hope Benson quits his public speaking for a really long time.
4. See the Trap?: This game is a trap game for Cincinnati and I hope they’re ready for it. A desperate opponent at home (Carolina is 0-2) with perhaps some new energy at quarterback could keep things closer than they should be. Carolina won’t let the Bengals run wild without a fight. I hope Cincy is ready for a cat fight. A win tomorrow would give the Bengals some mojo heading into Cleveland in Week Four.
