On the Bubble.

Oh my, oh my someone check Mike Brown’s pulse. It’s now being rumored that the Bengals (yes the ones from Cincinnati) are now looking at addressing the need of an indoor training facility.

This is all coming Joe Reedy from the Cincinnati Enquirer. It’s been going around that the team has talked with the Ohio Utilities Protection Service about any utility work for the facility. Nothing has been set in stone, but the fact talks seem to be “heating up” about an indoor facility shows to be promising. The biggest surprise out of all this is that a team official has gone on record saying the Bengals not the county will pay for this new facility. (Hence why I’m saying check ol’ Mikey’s pulse)

Talks about a facility being put in have always gone around. For years theres been players making comments (or now tweets) about this needs to be upgraded. Considering the fact the team now drives over to “Wall 2 Wall Soccer” in Mason, Ohio if they need to practice inside. The Bengals are actually the most northern team in the NFL, NOT to have an indoor training facility, heck the Massilon Tigers high school team even has one. (You know the team with Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.)

The question that I’m asking, is just this “Why now?”. There’s 3 main factors that could jump out at a reader. The first being something that many assumed, Marvin signed back. With Marvin signing back he had a list of changes he wanted to be made, as well as more controls in the operations of the club. The fact they’re now looking into it all in depth may be a sign. Another fact that may be staring at Mike in face (literally) is the fact the Cincinnati Bearcats, just obtained their own indoor practice facility (The Jefferson Avenue Sports Complex), which cost them 15.5 million to build it all from scratch. It would take mike less then 10 million to put a bubble on an existing structure. The last but not least reason, is the game of “chicken” Mike is playing with Carson. The idea that if Mike really were to show changes in the team, that his golden boy Palmer would come running back. (probably in a slow motion sequence of each other, running into each other’s arms in a field of flowers) This theory may hold the least weight, but is at least worth a mention.

We’ll see what happens, Stripe Hype will be monitoring this situation to see if any of this may come to fruition. Make sure to check back in as the story develops.

"Although no final decision has been made by the club to go ahead with the project, one of the potential sites could house the practice field that is adjacent to the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge and could be 70, 80 or 120 yards. The discussions have involved diagrams, maps and drawings and the next step would be the hiring of an architect if the project continues. – Geoff Hobson Bengals.com"
