Bengals have came to terms with former 49ers LB Manny Lawson. Lawson signed for a 1 year term in Cincinnati paying him 3 million dollars.
Lawson was drafted in the first round by the 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was one of the cases where he came from a 4-3 defense in college (NC St) to transition into a NFL 3-4 OLB. His career started out a little shaky being injured for most of 2007, but quickly rebounded the next 2 seasons.
For the past 2 seasons in San Francisco he has been the starter at LOLB playing in all 32 games. On a yearly basis Lawson averages nearly 3 sacks a year, and at least 1 forced fumble.
Lawson is solid young pick up that can be a big help to the Bengals as they attempt to reload in the post Dhani Jones era of the LB corps. Considering the depth at LB signing Lawson is a huge help already.
