Simpson Pleads not Guilty on Drug Charges

Jerome Simpson may still have ESPN’s best highlight honor, but he may not have his freedom for much longer. Simpson was indicted on federal drug charges last week, and yesterday he appeared in a Kentucky court for his arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty on those charges. I’m no legal expert, but because Simpson was unable to come up with a plea agreement with prosecutors, if he’s found guilty, Simpson faces up to five years in prison. The evidence is strongly stacked against him, so it may be time to cut his losses and accept a plead bargain, so he can put this behind him and move on with his NFL career. Roger Goddell has shown he’s willing to take into account time served in jail or prison when handing down punishments.
