Fast forward to today, and the Bengals stand to lose some important guys on that D-line. Fanene, Sims, and Rucker are all free agents and are talking to other teams. It’s unlikely that the Bengals will retain all three of them, and could lose the trio. They deserve the chance to start for other teams, but their exits would leave a hole in the Cincinnati defense. If the Bengals hope to make a repeat visit to the playoffs in 2012, this needs to be addressed. Free agency is in full swing, and the Bengals are targeting several positions, but depth along the defensive line is key, and one I hope Mike Brown is taking seriously. The offense should be better next season, but without a strong performance from the D-line, the defense as a whole could take a step back, and the playoffs might be out of reach.
