The Bengals lack of a scouting department is also well known, and the news today that head coach Marvin Lewis was at Arizona State’s pro day, possibly leading to a lack of contract offers for the visiting free agents is inexcusable. These players could sign elsewhere in the meantime, leaving Cincinnati with even less quality depth, and further alienating an already jaded fanbase.
I continue to try and remain positive about the team’s future, and carry on with the hope that Brown and Lewis will get guys that can contribute and get the Bengals back to the playoffs. They still have a very good young talent base that should only get better. However, if Mike Brown allows the depth on the team to suffer, and another 4 or 5 win season happens, I will be joined by Bengals fans everywhere in another season of misery, and will be even more convinced that Mike Brown just doesn’t care.
