With th NFL owners meetings set to take place this weekend, NFL free agency will slow down significantly over the next week. The Bengals got off to a slow start in the initial free agency period, but over the past 5 days have bounced back significantly.
With Cedric Benson wearing out his welcome in Cincinnati, the Bengals were in desperate search of a new RB to carry the workload. That came yesterday when former New England RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis agreed to a 3-year deal with the Bengals, where he’ll likely be the feature back.
In New England last year, Green-Ellis rushed for 667 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Patriots. His best season came in 2010, when he rushed for 1,008 yards and 13 touchdowns. In the past two seasons alone, Ellis has 24 rushing TDs. In that same time frame, Bengals runningbacks have accounted for 17.
