The offensive line got a nice boost when the Bengals signed Panthers guard Travelle Wharton to 3-year, $10 million deal. Wharton started all 16 games for the Panthers during the 2011 season, making 15 starts at left guard and one at left tackle. The Panthers released the veteran offensive lineman this week to clear $3.8 million in cap space. Since 2004 after being drafted in the third round out of South Carolina, he’s started 99 games in eight seasons with the Panthers and will look to compete for a starting guard spot with the Bengals.
