The Sean O Diesel 2012 NFL Mock Draft

3 of 6

13. Arizona Cardinals
Michael Floyd
WR, Notre Dame

The Cardinals have been looking for a suitable wide receiver to play opposite Larry Fitzgerald ever since Anquan Boldin left for Baltimore. If Floyd is still there at 13, he will be that guy.

14. Dallas Cowboys
Mark Barron
S, Alabama

It’s no secret that the Cowboys need some major help in their secondary. Barron is the top safety in this year’s class and if he falls to 14, Jerry Jones won’t hesitate to go after a much needed upgrade.

15. Philadelphia Eagles
Dontari Poe
DT, Memphis

The Eagles were just getting gashed in the running game last year. They will be looking for an anchor for the middle of their defensive line. Poe brings that to them with his 6’5″, 350 lb. frame.

16. New York Jets
Chandler Jones
OLB, Syracuse

Jones has been projected to go all over the place, from a mid first round pick to a mid second round pick. I’m going with the former. This is because he is a driving force against offensive linemen with his great hand skills. He has the physicality that Rex Ryan loves and I think the Jets take a shot on him here.

17. Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland)
David DeCastro
OG, Stanford

Well, here we are with the Bengals first selection. It just so happened that DeCastro fell to 17 on my mock. This is a scenario that all Bengals fans are hoping to happen (including myself). Obviously if he is here at this point, even though offensive guard is not a sexy first round pick, Cincinnati simply can not pass up on this kind of talent.

18. San Diego Chargers
Jonathan Martin
OT, Stanford

Martin didn’t have the greatest combine, but San Diego needs to improve their offensive line play. Philip Rivers threw 20 interceptions last season, and continuous pressure on the quarterback was one of the driving factors for that.
