Stripe Hype Staff Grades Bengals’ Stellar Draft

4 of 4

Orson Charles was a steal in the 4th round after a sluggish 40 yard dash at the combine and a DUI arrest dropped him out of the late first – early second round where he was valued.

The highlight of the 5th round and the steal of the draft as far as I am concerned was taking Cal WR, Marvin Jones with the 166th pick of the draft. Jones has great size and speed and will surely be in competition with Sanu for the number 2 WR slot. Also selected in the 5th round were CB, Shaun Prater, and S, George Iloka. Two picks that continued to fill needs for the Bengals.

The final pick of the draft for Cincinnatiwas Dan “Boom” Herron, RB, Ohio St. Fans were waiting to see what the Bengals would do about the running back situation and they go their answer in the 6th round. Herron is an explosive back that can contribute on special teams right away and work his way into the rotation.

Overall, I was thrilled to see Cincinnati sticking to their ‘best player available’ strategy, and not reaching for needs. That being said, I couldn’t be happier with this draft, and think it was one of the best that the Bengals have had in years.

My grade overall:  A
