AFC North Headlines: Brandon Weeden signs with Browns, & Steelers extend Mike Tomlin’s deal through 2016


The Steelers have announced that they’ve extended HC Mike Tomlin’s contract through the 2016 season, after there were two years left on his previous deal. If he coaches in Pittsburgh for the remaining of that contract, he will have been the Steelers’ head man for 10 seasons.

QB Brandon Weeden has agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns, meaning they’ve now signed both of their first-round draft picks. The deal with Weeden is a four-year, $8.1 million contract.

Bengals Third-round pick Mohamed Sanu is expected to win the Bengals’ starting Z receiver job, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Bengals OC Jay Gruden however says he sees Brandon Tate and Armon Binns sharing a lot of snaps at the #2 WR spot.

The Browns and RB Trent Richardson has agreed to terms on a deal for 4 years and $20.4 million fully guaranteed. He’ll also get a $13.6 million signing bonus.

Former Bengals great Ken Anderson’s Fountain Square Kickoff with the Bengals is set for September 10th at4:45 p.m.

Former Browns and Bengals Pro Bowl guard Eric Steinbach will workout for Ravens Tuesday. He’s now recovered from back problems and ready to make his NFL comeback.

The Ravens’ physically unable to perform list includes Pernell McPhee (knee), Kelechi Osemele (leg), David Reed (knee and Jah Reid (calf), while Terrelll Suggs, Courtney Upshaw and Bruce Figgins have been placed on the non-football injury list.
