Marvin Lewis won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, as the winningest head coach in Bengals history will be here at least through 2014. This is a huge win for the Bengals as they now have the greatest continuity and stability the franchise has seen since the days of Sam Wyche roaming the sideline. People will be quick to point out that Lewis has yet to win a playoff game, but prior to his arrival, the Bengals were cellar dwellers and never sniffed the playoffs for nearly two decades. Lewis has brought winning football back to Cincinnati, and he’s been rewarded nicely for it.
Here were his comments on receiving the extension:
"The team we have for this year is as exciting and intriguing as any one I’ve had. Our goal is to win the Super Bowl, nothing less, and it’s great to have this extension in place. We have a lot of work to do in order to maximize the potential we have, and it’s exciting to me to come work at it every day. (Wife) Peggy and I love living in Cincinnati, and we love the support our fans give us. Thanks to everyone who has helped make all this happen."
