Evening Headlines: Adrian Peterson Could Return Friday, & Titans’ Gerald McRath out for Year


Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) could make his preseason debut as soon as this Friday against the San Diego Chargers. He was just cleared to return to practice last week, and he’ll be trying to come back from an ACL Tear within 9 months if he is able to start in week 1.

Titans LB Gerald McRath has suffered a tear of his patellar tendon and is done for the season.

Redskins DE Brian Orakpo left Saturday’s preseason game with a left shoulder injury. Orakpo previously had  surgery on that same shoulder in January.

Steelers ILB Stevenson Sylvester will miss 3-4 weeks with a torn MCL.

Titans WR Kenny Britt (knee surgeries) is unlikely to play in any preseason games.

There’s a chance Cardinals LT Levi Brown (torn right triceps) could return this season.

ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that QB Tarvaris Jackson will not play another snap with the Seahawks.

Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather left Saturday’s preseason game against the Bears with a left knee injury. An MRI today revealed no significant damage.
