During stretches of his two-year career, Andy Dalton has shown flashes of his high level of potential. That includes joining Dan Marino and Peyton Manning as the only players in history to pass for 20 touchdowns, while winning at least 8 games as a starting quarterback. Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco certainly can’t put that on their résumés.
Heck, neither can Tom Brady.
However, it’s no secret that Dalton has also been bailed out time and time again by one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Just as Marvin Lewis, the defense, and rest of the offense knows this, so does Dalton.
But with Mohamed Sanu returning from injury, and A.J. Green having rapidly become one of the best young NFL receivers, Dalton will have all the reasons to show his full potential in his third year. And I think that he will.
The pieces are all falling into place. The chemistry is certainly there. Bengals fans have all the reason in the world to be ready for the 2013 football season.
