It’s never to early to look at the upcoming 2013 NFL season, and oddsmakers are already beginning to release their early lines for games. The Vegas sports books have come out with their odds for each game in the upcoming NFL season, and the odds don’t exactly favor a good start to the 2013 season for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Week 1:

Cincinnati Bengals at Chicago Bears (-3)

Week 2:

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals (-1)

Week 3:

Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals (Pick)

Week 4:

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns (+3)

Week 5:

New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals (+1.5)

In three of the 5 games, the Bengals are either underdogs (Bears, Patriots), or in a pick-em (Packers). They’re only favored by 1 against the Steelers, who they haven’t beaten at home since 2009. Based on these odds, the Bengals will be lucky to be 3-2 after Week 5, and could conceivably be 1-4 entering their Week 6 game on the road vs. the Buffalo Bills. This won’t be the typical easy start the Bengals have fortunately had in the past two seasons after starting  6-2 in 2011 and 3-1 in 2012.

This year, Cincinnati will have to be ready to go right out of the gate, and if they hope to take the next step after back-to-back first-round playoff exits, this should be a good challenge.
