Andre Smith has remained a no-show for the voluntary portion of the Bengals offseason training program thus far, and it’s led to speculation as to whether he would even show up for the team’s mandatory minicamp from June 11-13.
Wonder no more, according to Head Coach Marvin Lewis:
Lewis has also previously said that Smith told the club he’s dealing with personal issues. It is worth noting Smith has a workout bonus of $100,000 this year, and $500,000 in bonuses over the 3-year deal.
It’s not helping matters that left tackle Andrew Whitworth has been out as well after a knee surgery this offseason, leaving the Bengals with a starting offensive line of Tanner Hawkinson and Anthony Collins at tackle, Kevin Zeitler and Clint Boling at guard, and T..J Johnson at center. That might win a game or two in the SEC.
