Atlanta Falcons & Cincinnati Bengals Combined Practice Recap

The Cincinnati Bengals are currently residing in Flowery Branch, Georgia, where they are conducting several combined practices this week with the Atlanta Falcons before the two teams square-off in their preseason opener on Thursday Night. The Falcons are expected to hold out tight end Tony Gonzalez for that game, while the Bengals are without Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Green and offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth this week.

*The Falcons will need someone to step up at cornerback after the team released longtime-veteran Dunta Robinson, and Dominique Franks may be ready to step into that role. He’s had a nice camp thus far, and continued that today at the expense of Bengals backup quarterback John Skelton:

*This was a recurring theme, as Falcons DBs made it tough for any Bengals QB to get in a groove, including Andy Dalton:

*But the Bengals had their way when their stout defensive line matched up against he Falcons offensive line:

With receivers A.J. Green and Andrew Hawkins both being out for this week, and Hawkins possibly longer, now’s the chance for the other WRs to step up and take advantage of the extra reps to showcase their abilities and prove to the coaches that they’re worthy of a spot on the 53-man roster.
