*The Atlanta Falcons suffered a potentially damaging loss today, as right tackle Mike Johnson was carted off the field during practice today. The left leg injury occurred on the first play of 9-on-7 inside run drills, and Johnson reportedly left practice in an ambulance.

Johnson is currently projected to be their starter at right tackle after the team let go of longtime veteran Tyson Clabo. IF Johnson is out and they can’t sign an adequate veteran, Lamar Holmes, a rookie  third-round draft pick out of Southern Miss, is next on the depth chart.

*Speaking of the offensive line, they continued to be dominated today by the Bengals defensive line, who should once again be among the NFL’s best, while the Falcons will have a lot of uncertainty at o-line entering the season.

– And it wasn’t just a case of the No. 1 units beating the No. 1 units and so-on. At times during the practice yesterday, the Falcons’ No. 1 units were matched up against the Bengals’ No. 3 team:

"“We wanted to have some work against different groups,” Mike Smith said. “One thing we wanted to make sure of is that over these next couple of days, we get work against everybody. We want to see some of our young guys against their better players.”"
