The Cincinnati Bengals held their annual family night tonight, and a crowd of over 10,000 fans showed up for the event.
While fans had a great time watching the Bengals practice, they didn’t get a chance to see A.J. Green or Andrew Whitworth return from their injuries. Marvin Lewis previously said they could both be back this week, but don’t expect either to suit up Saturday night vs. the Tennessee Titans.
Rookie safety Shawn Williams was drafted in third-round out of Georgia this year in hopes he could become the future starting safety alongside Reggie Nelson. Many expected he would come in and beat-out the incumbent Taylor Mays and the unknown George Iloka. But when the first depth chart came out last week, it showed Williams listed down at third-string, and based on the playing time he got in Thursday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons, it appears that’s the true position he’s in right now.
So it didn’t help his cause that he suffered a non-contact injury today. He was out signing autographs for fans tonight, but was still sporting a limp, and it is still unclear if he’ll miss time.
