The Bengals are in a unique position this season. They are a little too talented in spots. It’s not that Roland, or Schaffer, or Hamilton is not good enough to make the team, it is the product of being on a good team. These guys have shown throughout practice, OTA’s, and preseason they are good enough to make an NFL roster. Not everyone can make an NFL roster and for some guys this is the first time they have ever been told in their entire life that they are not big enough, strong enough, or fast enough to play football.
Great teams must cut down to 53 as well, and the Bengals are no exception. Although it’s always tough for bubble players across the NFL to watch their dreams dashed, at least temporarily, it says how far the Bengals have come as a franchise.
Welcome fans, because this is the byproduct of excellence.
