A disaster of a start in the first-quarter had the Bengals looking very shaky to pen the 2013 NFL season. After their first offensive possession ended in an Andy Dalton interception, Jay Cutler drove the Bears to the redzone and hit Martellus Bennett for the game’s opening score.
Then, A.J. Green exploded for the next three quarters, registering over 130 yards of offense and two scores and drew another 70-yard pass-interference penalty which BenJarvus Green-Ellis converted into a score, and the Bengals held what felt like a comfortable 21-10 lead midway through the fourth-quarter.
But offensive miscues and turnovers would keep the Bears in the game, and after a redzone fumble by Mohamed Sanu, the Bears drove down the field for the game-winning score, a 19-yard TD pass to Brandon Marshall.
There was still 8 minutes left in the game, but after a Bengals 3-and-out, the Bears ran-out the clock, and a Rey Mauluga personal foul penalty with 1 minute left on 4th-down allowed the Bears to run the clock out, and dropped the Bengals to 0-1. We’ll have aa full-recap up shortly.
