Defensive End Sam Montgomery

The Houston Texans cut Montgomery last week for allegedly smoking pot in the team hotel. A third-round pick out of LSU, who now is free to sign with whomever he wants.

And as it turned out, Montgomery didn’t test positive for pot in a drug test he took days after being cut, and the Texans’ potential bungul could be the Bengals’ steal of a talented prospect. He visisted the team last week, so the interest is there.

As a senior at LSU, Montgomery played defensive end and had eight sacks. He was converted to an outside linebacker in Houston’s 3-4 system but was not active in any games this season. He’d be a nice player to sign and develop while also porviding some emergency depth.
