As the NFL wraps up with Week 5, news around the league is popping up, revealing injuries and new problems for teams that were already in quite a bit of trouble. Not all the news is on the negative side, but not much isn’t. Check out some of the headlines.
The biggest one is in Atlanta. Following a loss on MNF to the New York Jets, the Falcons have announced that their star receiver, Julio Jones, will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.
An argument can be made for Jones as the best receiver in the NFL, and the injury comes at a terrible time for Atlanta, as a 1-4 record has them facing an uphill battle the rest of the season.
The Texans’ Owen Daniels is also expected to miss 3-6 weeks due to a fibula injury. That’s not the best news for quarterback Matt Schaub, who has come under fire in Texas after throwing three interceptions that were returned for a touchdown in the last three weeks.
The Patriots have some good news, as they may have Gronkowski ready to play against the powerhouse Saints next week. It would be his first time playing this year due to his recovery from multiple surgeries.
