Winfield may not be the same player he once was considering that he is now 36 years-old. He’s played 14 NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings, recording 27 interceptions in the process, but he is perhaps best known for his elite tackling ability.
As of now, Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis doesn’t sound like he wants to bring in a free agent CB, but perhaps that’s because Winfield hasn’t made it known he’d be willing to sign with Cincinnati, who certainly looks like a contender now.
It seems crazy that the Bengals would sign another 30-something-year-old cornerback, but now with Leon Hall out for the year, not to mention Dre Kirkpatrick and Brandon Ghee never seem to be healthy, Winfield could not only be a good veteran presence on this team, but could very well see a lot of playing time very quickly.
In his career, Winfield has 27 interceptions, 11 fumble recoveries and 7.5 sacks.
