Big week for Donnie Avery
The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a surprising 7-0 start this year after Andy Reid came over from Philadelphia and has revived the once proud franchise. The offense has done just enough to manage games and pull-out narrow wins against most of the teams they’ve played, and Alex Smith has been the definition of a game manager.
But all of this has occurred without arguably living up to his billing as one of the league’s best receivers, as Dwayne Bowe has been held under 70 yards receiving in every game, and now he has a strained groin muscle that could sideline him Sunday.
That means their No. 2 receiver, Donnie Avery, will see a heavy amount of targets this week. His best game of the year came in Week 3 vs the Eagles when he caught 7 passes for 141 yards, but hasn’t done much since then as Smith has tried to get Bowe more involved in the offense.
He’s a sneaky play this week if you’re desperate for a WR, and could easily score double-digit fantasy points, especially in PPR leagues.
