Not even 20 minutes after we posted about how the Bengals should look into trading for Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Vinny Curry, it now looks like the Eagles may be willing to trade defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga:
The reason the Bengals should consider him is due to the concern with defensive tackle Devon Still and his elbow injury. The initial diagnosis was that of a 4-6 week time frame before he might be able to return, but there continues to be doubt he’ll even be able to come back that soon.
Anything longer then 8 weeks at this point in the year should result in him being placed on the injured reserve list. Still simply hasn’t played well-enough to warrant keeping him on the 53-man roster for essentially the rest of the regular season.
If a defensive lineman like Sopoaga can be had for a late-round pick, the Bengals should strongly consider it. Sopoaga was acquired in the offseason via free agency. A 10-year veteran, the nose tackle has had experience at both tackle spots, but has seen limited playing time only on base downs as he’;s notched 18 tackles in eight games.
