Thompson was an interesting prospect, as he drew many comparisons to Geno Atkins. Thompson has done well with the reps he has been given, and some see him as a potential star in the future. Thompson played well against the Dolphins, especially when he disrupted a 3rd and 1 early in the game. Thompson does extremely well in double teams and showed it Thursday.
Both players are young and have learning to do, and Still must become healthy, but the Bengals are prepared for this. Also, the Bengals used Wallace Gilberry and Margus Hunt at the defensive tackle position a few times, so one may see more of that as the season progresses.
Finally, there is the safety position. The Hard Knocks star Taylor Mays is out for the season after having a very good season, one of which that was underrated. With him out, Crocker has seen more playing time. While Crocker is a veteran and uses instincts very well, he does not have as much speed as one would like. With certain passing situations, one may end up seeing Shawn Williams out on the field.
He has mainly been playing special teams and delivering quite a few big hits, so it may be refreshing to see what the young player can do. Both safeties add a different dimension to this team, but expect Crocker do get many of the reps.
