Notable Playoff Races

The NFC North became a much closer race this week as the Detroit Lions dropped a heart-breaking game to the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Chicago Bears hit a last-second field goal against the Baltimore Ravens to pull even at 6-4. The Lions hold the tiebreaker heading down the stretch thanks to head-to-head wins in Weeks 4 and 10, but nipping at both of their heels are the 5-5 Packers.

That win by Pittsburgh also puts them in a position where if they can beat the Browns this week, they’ll be just two games behind the Bengals, who sit atop the AFC North with a 2.5 game lead but are entering their bye week. The Steelers host Cincinnati in Week 15 on Sunday Night Football in a game that could end up deciding the division.

Marred in controversy after the Jonathan MArtin fiasco, the Dolphins find themselves back in the Wild Card hunt after beating the Chargers and watching the Jets fall to the lowly Bills. The Jets still lead the race for now, but blew a big opportunity to stretch their lead and still have two games against the Dolphins down the stretch that could very well decide the sixth and final playoff spot.

The Eagles ended the Redskins’ slim playoff hopes to take control of the NFC East, but after a fourth consecutive win from the Giants, who started the year 0-6, they’ve fought their way back into the race for the NFC East.
