The effect Gio has had on Andy’s production can almost go unmentioned. Thirty-three (33%) of the time Gio has caught a pass, it has gone for a first down (7% for a touchdown). This brings up the reoccurring question: why aren’t more passes thrown in Gio’s direction? One must wonder, would more screens open up the offense to bigger plays for their young tight ends and receivers? Gio at least carries that potential.
All numbers and comparisons aside, isn’t this guy just fun to watch?! Bernard is the guy that other teams’ fans get excited to watch. He’s the guy who’s made Bengals fans say for years, “Why can’t that guy be in black and orange?” Well, he is. Let’s enjoy it. And please, give him the ball more!
