Downgrade 49ers Receivers
Anquan Boldin has had a roller coaster season in terms of fantasy point scored, but he rewarded his patient owners again this week versus Washington Redskins with five-catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns. That’s three scores on 11 catches for ‘Quan over the last two weeks.
But he may not be the focus of the offense this week. 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed Friday that Michael Crabtree will make his season debut Sunday against St. Louis Rams, adding to an already muddy situation in San Fran’s receiving unit. While Crabtree is expected to be on a strict snap count, Colin Kaepernick will likely look to his favorite target of 2012 in the limited attempts he gets to.
Not to mention they’re playing at home, where running back Frank Gore has had some of his best games of the year, and while the Rams have played some inspired football as of late, they won’t be able to stop the 49ers ground game, and Boldin probably won’t get as many targets as he did last week.
Boldin should be viewed as a WR-3 or flex play, while Crabtree is still a few weeks away from being relevant in fantasy football.
