The Washington Redskins are a mess right now, and it’s only getting worse as the season draws to a close. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that “people inside [the Redskins] building” are “under the impression” that Kirk Cousins will start in Week 15 instead of Robert Griffin III:

The Redskins’ coach said Monday he might consider benching RGIII to keep him healthy, something he failed to do in the playoffs last year when Griffin tore his ACL. Shanahan was careful to stress that the move would be about keeping Griffin healthy heading into the offseason, not the declining play of the No. overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Griffin has been sacked 24 times in the past five games and has struggled this season and, so the time may be right to roll with Cousins for the final three weeks of the season to preserve his health and confidence. There’s no question that the Skins franchise is committed to RGIII being the future of the franchise t QB, and Shanahan won’t be around much longer to deter that.

The Redskins are 24-37 under Shanahan, and he’ll be luck to just finish the season as the head coach of the NFL’;s most dysfunctional franchise.
