Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker will not play on Sunday against the Houston Texans after sustaining a concussion two weeks ago vs. the Tennessee Titans:
Welker has not been cleared to return to work after suffering a concussion against the Titans in Week 14 and still needs to pass a series of tests between now and the team’s next game against the Oakland Raiders in Week 17.
This season, Welker has already amassed 73 catches for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also suffered a concussion on Nov. 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the Broncos set to face the Texans without the services of Welker, either wide receiver Andre Caldwell or tight ends Jacob Tamme or Virgil Green will get the start at Welker’s normal slot receiver spot.
Caldwell saw the majority of the playing time in the slot, leading the team in targets, receptions, yards and touchdowns.
