Broncos RB Montee Ball
The rookie got off to a rough start this year due to fumbling issues and not picking up the blitz in pass protection, but he’s been given more touches as the season has progressed. But after seeing 32 combined touches over Weeks 13 and 14, Ball had just three carries and five receptions in a Week 15 against a bad San Diego Chargers run defense.
That can be attributed to the Chargers jumping out to a 24-10 lead and dominating the time of possession, and against the Houston Texans this week, the Broncos should be the ones jumping out to an early lead while allowing Ball to grind out some clock.
Make no mistake about it: Knowshon Moreno is the Broncos’ top back, but in an attempt to rest him for the playoffs, Ball is in line for 20+ touches in the Broncos’ final two games.
According to FFToday.com, the Texans have allowed the ninth-most points to running backs over the past five weeks, and any back slated to get 20-plus touches against his defense is a worth start.
