Bengals TE Orson Charles
0 touchdowns. 0 yards. 0 catches.
That’s Charles’ stat-line this year. After catching eight passes for 101 yards in 16 games last year, the fourth-string TE has seldomly played this year as the team has attempted to make him a h-back, but it’s been unsuccessful up to this point.
The former Georgia Bulldogs All-American was one of the top TEs coming out of college, but simply hasn’t been able to get much playing time due to the presence of a pair of former first-round picks in Tyler Eifert and Jermaine Gresham on the roster.
But with Eifert and Gresham possibly out Sunday, that would leave Charles and blocking TE Alex Smith to start. Eifert or Gresham are averaging a combined six catches for 60 yards per game, and one has to think that Charles will draw the majority of TE targets from Andy Dalton this week.
Still, AJ Green, Marvin Jones and Giovani Bernard are likely to draw the majority of targets on Sunday and Charles simply isn’t worth the risk.
Sit Charles vs. the Ravens.
